The Snapchat Map or Snap Map was introduced by Snapchat in June 2017 as an added feature for Snapchat users. You can see the Snap Map by pinching your screen in the Snapchat app. In the Snap Map, you will be able to see your location as well as your friend’s location.

You will also be able to see their status and their snap update. Some say that this feature is a little bit creepy and stalky as you can see where your friends are and what they are doing. However, with the right push, the Snap Map can be a very value-added platform for social media users to be connected. Here are three interesting feature that you probably don’t know about Snapchat Map

1. SNAP MAP CAN PREDICT WHAT YOU ARE DOING

Snapchat users who use Snap Map will have a bitmoji or actionmoji representing them on the map. The Snap Map will use the data such as your location, the altitude, the time of the day and also the speed of your movement to indicate the activities you are currently doing. Then, the bitmoji will show your friends what your current status is.

Interestingly, the bitmoji will also show to your Snapchat friends when you are sleeping. And if you are flying, Snap Map will detect the altitude, and your bitmoji will show a plane. Thus, showing to your friends you are on a plane travelling to someplace.

2. YOU ARE NOT BEING TRACKED ALL THE TIME

If you enable your location to be found using Snap Map, your friends can only see you in the Snap Map when you open the Snapchat app. Once you closed your Snapchat application, your friend can no longer see you in the Snap Map. However, you can choose to be invisible when you open your Snapchat and not being seen by your friends. You need to enable the Ghost Mode first. Here are the steps how you can enable the Ghost Mode.

Step 1
Enter your Snap Map screen. Tap the settings icon at the top right of your Snap Map screen.

Step 2
At the Settings, enable the Ghost Mode to make you invisible in Snap Map.

3. SNAP MAP SHOWING YOUR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS ACTIVITIES

Every time a group of friend is near with each other, a circle will appear at their bitmoji. What Snap Map is doing is that it wants to show a group of your friend is hanging out in a certain location. However, Snapchat only assumes that your friends are hanging out together as they are proximity to each other. However, they might coincidentally be near each other, but still, Snapchat will show the circle.
