How to Hide or Change Display Name on Snapchat

In Snapchat, every Snapchat needs to register their Snapchat username. The Snapchat username act as the ID that people need to know to add you to their friend’s list. Once you register a Snapchat username, you cannot change it unless you open a new Snapchat account. However, you can change, edit or hide your Snapchat display name. The display name is the name that your friend will see in their account.

However, this will not change your friend’s display name in their account as this would display you would only see a name. CHANGE OR HIDE YOUR OWN DISPLAY NAME

Step 1

Open Snapchat. Tap at your icon above

Step 2

Tap at your display name shown there

Step 3

A menu will be shown. Tap at the box to edit your display name

Step 4

Once you changed your display name, tap “Save.”

Your new display name will be shown at your home profile. Your Snapchat friends will see your display name. However, your Snapchat username will remain the same.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR FRIEND’S SNAPCHAT DISPLAY NAME

Snapchat also gives you the ability to change your friend’s display name in your Snapchat account.

Here are the steps.

Step 1

Open Snapchat. Go to your profile menu. Scroll down and tap “Friends.”

Step 2

At the list of your friends, tap at the one you want to change the name

Step 3

At the chatbox, tap your friend’s icon above

Step 4

At your friend’s profile, tap at their display name

Step 5

A pop-up menu will be shown. Tap the box to edit

Step 6

Once edited, tap “Save” to confirm

Their display name will be changed in your Snapchat account.

However, this display name will not affect your friend’s actual display name, and they will not be notified that you have to change it.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR FRIEND’S SNAPCHAT DISPLAY NAME?

There are many reasons to change your friend’s display name, but some of the main reasons are:-

1. To organise and better recognize which friends are in your Snapchat list. They might be three to four Jessie in your friend’s list. By changing the display name to Jessie from School, Jessie from hometown, etc., you will be able to organize your Snapchat friend’s list better
