How to Find Your Friends Using Facebook Nearby Friends

If you are interested to know the location of your Facebook friends, you can use a function on Facebook called “Nearby Friends”. With this function, you can see which of your Facebook friends that is near to you based on their location. You can quickly message them also informing them that you are close by.

WHY ENABLE FACEBOOK NEARBY FRIENDS?

Here are some top reasons why you should enable this function.

1. TO FIND FRIENDS – If you are in a place close to your friends, you can quickly ask them to meet up. This is possible if you can see where they are located at
2. TO ARRANGE GROUP MEETUP – If you are having a group meetup, you can let your friends meet even if it is a random place you have not planned previously. All your friends need to do is open up Facebook and see where you are located.

HOW TO ACTIVATE FACEBOOK NEARBY FRIENDS

Step 1

In your Facebook profile, tap at the three-line dot icon below

Step 2

Tap “Nearby Friends”

Step 3

Tap “Get Started”

Step 4

Select who do you want to share your location within Facebook

You can select all your friends on Facebook or specific friends that can see your location

Step 5

You are then required to turn on your location sharing in your phone

Tap “Turn On”

Step 6

In your phone’s Facebook settings, tap at “Location”

Step 7

In the “Allow Location Access”, tap “Always”

Step 8

You can now see your nearby friends by looking at this list of friends or see your friends on the map

You can also enlarge the map to see your friends location on the Facebook geographical map as shown

HOW TO TURN OFF FACEBOOK NEARBY FRIENDS

Step 1

In your Nearby Friends screen, tap at the three-dot icon there

Step 2

A pop-up menu will be shown. Tap at “Settings”

Step 3

Push the “Nearby Friends” button to the left to disable it

You can also disable the Location Settings in your phone by tapping at “Location Settings” there
