The only way to permanently delete your Instagram account is through the Instagram website. That means you cannot delete your Instagram by using the Instagram app on your smartphone. 

Here are the steps

Step 1

Go to https://www.instagram.com and login to your account

Step 2

Once logged in, go to https://www.instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/permanent

You will be taken to the “Delete Your Account” page. There would be a form asking “Why are you deleting the account?”

Click at the dropdown menu

Step 3

Select the reason why you want to delete your account

Step 4

Enter your Instagram account password to proceed. Make sure you remember the password for the account you want to delete.

TEMPORARILY DISABLE YOUR ACCOUNT

However, if you do not want to delete your account entirely, there is also an alternative to this. This is by temporarily disabling your Instagram account. Your account will be disabled until you enable it again in the future.

Here are the steps

Step 1

Go to Instagram and log into your account

Step 2

In your account, tap the profile icon at the top right to go to your Instagram profile

Step 3

In your Instagram profile, tap “Edit Profile.”

Step 4

In your profile, tap at “Temporarily Disable My Account” at the bottom

Step 5

Fill-up your Instagram account password and tap “Temporarily Disable Account” to proceed.

Your Instagram account would be disabled, and your followers and friends will not be able to see your Instagram post until you enable it again in the future.

BLOCK ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND SET ACCOUNT PRIVATE

Another option that you can do to make your Instagram account disappear from the public eyes is by making your Instagram account private. After that, you need to block all your followers so that they could no longer see your Instagram post.

Here are the steps

Step 1

In your Instagram profile, tap at the “Settings” icon beside your Instagram handle

Step 2

In the pop-up menu, tap “Privacy and Security.”

Step 3

Tick the box to enable the Private Account settings.

People who have not to follow your account yet will not see the content of your Instagram account.

Step 4

You will then need to block all your existing followers one by one.
