3 Ways How to Block Someone on Instagram

If you are an avid user of Instagram, you would probably have a significant number of followers right now. If the number of your followers keep on growing, it is possible that someday you will get a follower that is downright annoying or weird. There will come a time where you need to block someone on your Instagram account.

You can just unfollow the person, and you will not see any of their annoying and weird posts. However, they can still see your post since they are still following your Instagram account.

So, how do you block them from following you?

Here are three ways how you can block someone on Instagram.

HOW TO BLOCK SOMEONE ON INSTAGRAM

Imagine you received a spam message from a follower you just approved. You can easily block them from sending you a message on Instagram.

When you blocked someone on your Instagram account also, that blocked person would not be able to see your Instagram post and Instagram stories.

Here are the steps

Step 1

Open the DM message that you received from the person you want to block. Tap the exclamation icon on top right

Step 2

On the ‘Details” section, tap “Block.”

Step 3

Tap “Block” to confirm blocking them

Step 4

You can always “Unblock” them in the future by tapping the “Unblock” button here

Also, do not worry about offending that person. That person will not be notified that you have blocked them.

HOW TO REMOVE SOMEONE ON INSTAGRAM

However, if you want to remove them because you do want to see their Instagram post or stories, you can always choose to dismiss them as one of the accounts you are following.

By removing them, they can still see your Instagram post, but you will not see theirs. Also, Instagram will not notify them that you have to remove them.

Here are the steps.

Step 1

In Instagram, in your home menu, tap the “Followers” section

Step 2

In the Followers section, tap the three dot next to the follower’s username

Step 3

A pop-up menu will be shown. Tap “Remove” to confirm removing that person

The person will not be notified that you have removed them

The person will be no longer able to see your Instagram post

HOW TO MUTE SOMEONE ON INSTAGRAM

So, what if you do not want to block them or also remove them but do not want to be bothered much by the follower? You can do just that by just muting that person in your account.

By muting that person, you will still be able to see their post by visiting their account. They can also view your Instagram post.

Here are the steps.

Step 1

In your Instagram feed, touch the screen and swipe left

Step 2

It will bring you to the Direct Message menu. On the Instagram username of the people you want to mute, swipe left

Step 3

A menu will be shown; tap “More.”

Step 4

Tap “Mute” to stop receiving notification on their messages
