Sending chat message to your Snapchat friend back and forth does not count

You need to send a Snap as the rule for having a Snapstreak

RULE #4 – GROUP CHAT DOES NOT COUNT FOR A SNAPSTREAK

Sending snap or message to a Snapchat group does not count as Snapstreak

You need to send the snap directly to the person you are having the streak within 24 hours

RULE #5 – YOU CAN HAVE MULTIPLE SNAPSTREAKS WITH MANY FRIENDS

As long as you maintain the rule of Snapstreak, you can have multiple Snapstreak with many of your Snapchat friends

RULE #6 – ONCE STREAK IS BROKEN, YOU NEED TO START OVER AGAIN

If you or your friend did not send a snap after 24 hours, the Snapstreak will be broken and the fire icon will disappear

The only way you can gain back the Snapstreak is by starting over

Send a snap back and forth with your friends within 24 hours, 3 days in a row
