Instagram have just released a new feature called Instagram stories. For people that are familiar with Snapchat, they will know that Instagram just copied Snapchat stories mode of interface. The advantage of Instagram coming late to this type of interface is that it improves the user experience and probably just make it better than Snapchat.

Let’s face it, Snapchat is not that appealing to the older generation due to its complicated user interface. However, the millennial generation who is already accustomed to complex user interface finds Snapchat easy to use.

Most social media users have been saying that Snapchat can be a serious competitor to Facebook. So, this is how Facebook have response, by giving Instagram the stories function. For some of you who do not know, Facebook owns Instagram.

Instagram has all the same features as Snapchat stories such as share whatever images and videos and it will then disappear after 24 hours. You can also add filters and emoji to your videos and select who sees this stories.

How to use Instagram Stories

Here are the quick run through of how you use the Instagram Stories

Step 1
Open your Instagram App. At the top of your Instagram app interface there is the plus button. Tap the plus button for you to start recording your stories.

Below the plus button, there is icon showing your friend’s icon that have shared their stories. You can view the stories of your friends up to 24 hours.

Step 2
Hold your phone your target focus area or you can just take selfie or wefie photo or video. Once ready, tap on the circle button once to capture image. Hold longer to capture in a video format. The video are only limited to a 10 seconds duration.

Step 3
Once done, you can start adding effects to your images or videos. You can swipe left if you want to add filters or you can add visual effects by tapping at the icon at the top.

Step 4
Once you are satisfied with the effects, tap done and you are now ready to add your story to Instagram Stories. Your story will be available for viewing by your friends for 24 hours. You can also set your stories for either private viewing (your friends only) or publicly (it can be viewed by anyone)
