How to Hide Your Instagram Stories (From People You Don’t Know)

Since Instagram has introduced the Stories feature, many Instagrammers has now learned to use it as part of their Instagram post status. As their followers grow, the more followers that you hardly know will see your Instagram stories. Here is where you probably want to choose to hide that Instagram stories from strangers and people you do not know.

WHY HIDE YOUR INSTAGRAM STORIES?

There are many reasons why people want to hide their Instagram stories, here are some of the top reasons:-

1. TO SHARE PRIVATE STORIES – Not all stories are made equal. Some might reveal details of your personal life. Therefore, it is best to only share it with your close friends that you trust
2. TO AVOID CONFRONTATION – Some of your Instagram stories might contain different political belief, religious belief or others. Therefore hiding it from some of your followers that might not in the same level of thinking as you can be good to avoid any unnecessary debate

Here we are going to show you two ways how you can hide your Instagram Stories.

Here are two ways.

CREATE AN INSTAGRAM CLOSED FRIENDS LIST

One of the safe ways of sharing your Instagram stories is by creating a “Closed Friends” list. This list would have all of your trusted friends that you feel comfortable sharing with.

Here are the steps.

Step 1

After creating your Instagram Stories, tap “Next”

Step 2

In the Share option, tap “Create a list” under the Close Friends only

Step 3

Tap “Get Started”

Step 4

Select friends that you want them to see your Instagram stories by tapping the “Add” button

Next, tap “Create List”

Step 5

After you created the Close Friends list, you can choose to share your private stories to this list

Your Instagram Stories will have a green circle showing that it is meant for “Closed friends” only

CHOOSE WHO TO HIDE THE INSTAGRAM STORIES FROM

Another option is to choose who to hide your stories from. By choosing this option, you can share your Stories to the normal feed but knowing that you have blocked certain people from seeing your stories.

Here are the steps.

Step 1

In your Instagram profile, tap the three-line icon above

Step 2

A pop-up menu will be shown

Tap at “Settings”

Step 3

At Settings, tap “Privacy”

Step 4

At Privacy menu, tap “Story”

Step 5

At the “Story Controls” menu, tap “Hide story from”

Step 6

In the “Hide story from”, select the followers that you do not want them to see your stories

The follower you selected would not be able to see your Instagram stories
