In TikTok, you can add as many friends that you want. You can also follow many people as you want. However, not all the people you follow can be categorised as friends. This is because they need to follow you back so that TikTok will identify them as your friend on your TikTok friend’s list. Even though in the TikTok app, you do not have any specific “Friends” list, here we are going to show you how you can know who are your friends on TikTok.

WHY YOU SHOULD KNOW?

Here are some of the reasons why you should know who is your friend’s list on TikTok:-

  1. ABILITY TO DM – You could not send a private message to a person you are following on TikTok. Only if they have followed you back then you can DM them.
  2. SEEING YOUR CONTENT – A person you follow would not necessarily see your TikTok video content. However, a person listed as a friend would be able to see your TikTok content.

LOOK AT YOUR FOLLOWER’S LIST

Step 1

In your TikTok profile, tap at your “Followers” list

Step 2

The followers that you have that shows “Friends” here are your TikTok friends

This is because you are following them and they followed you back

However, if you tap at “Following”, you will see the people that you follow on TikTok but does not follow you back is not labelled as “Friends” but label as “Following” only.

LOOK AT YOUR DM’S LIST

Step 1

In your TikTok profile, tap at the “inbox” icon below

Step 2

At the inbox screen, tap at the “Direct Message” icon above

The TikTok usernames listed here in your DM’s list are all categorised as your TikTok friends

This is because you can only send or receive messages from your friends only
