How to Use Snapchat App (Beginner’s Guide)

The Snapchat apps were released in 2011 touting as one of the first few apps that promote disappearing messages. The messages can consist of videos and pictures that they sent to the feed and they are called Snapchat stories. Snapchat is one of the first who uses the story format in the social media world. All your snap stories can only be seen by your friends in 24 hours. After 24 hours, the snap story will disappear.

Since it was introduced in 2011, many features have been updated in recent years to make Snapchat more fun and entertaining. If you are new to Snapchat, here we are going to show you the step-by-step guide for any beginners who are about to install Snapchat and uses it.

#1 DOWNLOAD THE SNAPCHAT APP

Step 1

Go to the app store and search for “Snapchat”

Step 2

Download the app and tap open

The app is free to download and install

#2 CREATE YOUR SNAPCHAT PROFILE

Step 1

Fill-up the required details such as your name and birthday date there

Step 2

Select your Snapchat username and set a password for your account

#3 CREATE YOUR SNAPCHAT BITMOJI

Step 1

Go to your Snapchat profile

At your profile, scroll down and tap at “Edit your Bitmoji”

Step 2

 Create your own unique Bitmoji here

This will represent your avatar in your Snapchat account

#4 HOW TO ADD FRIENDS ON SNAPCHAT

Step 1

At the camera screen, tap at the “+” icon here to add friends

Step 2

You can search for your friends here or look at your phone’s contact address by tapping the “contact” icon in the search bar

Step 3

At the “All Contacts” menu, it will show your contacts that already have a Snapchat account

Tap the “Add” button to add your friends

You can access your Snapchat friend’s list at your Snapchat profile

#5 HOW TO SEND A SNAPCHAT STORY

Step 1

To create a Snapchat story, you can record a video or take the picture by tapping this circle button. Press it once to take the picture and press it longer for recording video

You can record up to 60 seconds of video duration

Step 2

You can further edit your video or picture by using this editing tool at the right side of the screen

You can also add stickers to your video or picture from the editing tools

Step 3

Tap “Send”

Choose whether to send to “My Story” so all of your friends can see it or choose specific friends that can see your Snapchat Story

Your story will disappear in 24 hours

#6 HOW TO SEE OTHER PEOPLE’S SNAPCHAT STORIES

Step 1

At your camera screen, tap at “Discover” at the bottom left there

Or, you can also swipe your finger to the left to enter the Discover screen.

Step 2

Tap at any Snapchat stories that you are interested that has been displayed here

The top part is all of your friend’s Snapchat stories

Below are stories from the public and Snapchat channels

#7 HOW TO CHAT WITH OTHER SNAPCHAT USERS

Step 1

At the camera screen, tap at the “Chat” icon left below

Step 2

You will see your list of friends there

Tap at your friend’s username to start chatting with them
