How to Mute and Unmute Someone Instagram Story

Instagram has introduced the Instagram story function in August 2016 as a way for Instagram users to post their story creatively. As Instagrammers now are more familiar with the Story function, the more stories you start to see in your feed. However, if you are starting to feel that your Instagram feed been flooded with Instagram stories, you can always opt to mute some of the people’s Instagram story that you see.

WHY MUTE INSTAGRAM STORY?

Why the need to mute other people’s Instagram story? Here are maybe some of the reasons:-

  1. TO BLOCK SPAMMERS – If you start to accumulate a lot of Instagram followers, it is possible that you also accumulate marketing spammers. Instead of keep seeing this spammers in your Instagram story feed, you can choose to mute them entirely
  2. TO REDUCE THE CLUTTERS – The Instagram story feed algorithm is something that you cannot control. Therefore, if you want to see

Here we are going to show you the simple steps on how you can mute and unmute someone’s Instagram story.

HOW TO MUTE OTHER PEOPLE’S INSTAGRAM STORY

Step 1

At your Instagram feed, press more than two seconds on the person’s Instagram story that you want to mute

Step 2

A menu will be shown. Tap “Mute”

Step 3

Tap “Mute Story” or “Mute Story and Posts” to mute that person’s story or their Instagram post

Once you do this, you will no longer see their story anymore until you unmute them back.

Don’t worry, they will not know that you have mute their story

HOW TO UNMUTE OTHER PEOPLE’S INSTAGRAM STORY

Step 1

At the Instagram story feed above, scroll to the furthest left

All muted Instagram story will be shown there

Step 2

Press the mute story more than two seconds until a menu is shown below

Tap “Unmute”

HOW TO SEE THE LIST OF MUTED ACCOUNTS IN YOUR INSTAGRAM

Step 1

Go to your Instagram settings, tap “Privacy”

Step 2

In Privacy, go to “Muted accounts”

You will then see all the muted story accounts listed there
