How to Share Instagram Post to Story

In August 2016, Instagram introduced Insta-Stories with Live stories was added later on November 2016. It follows the same concept of the Snapchat story where any stories that you posted will disappear after 24 hours. However, you may be wondering on why the need to post to story mode if you are comfortable of only posting your status or updates on the typical Instagram newsfeed?

Here are some of the differences between these two types of Instagram updates.

What are the differences between the standard Instagram post feed and story mode post?

Permanent vs temporary

With the Instagram standard post feed, it is considered permanent until you decide to delete it. However, with the Instagram story mode, it will only stay in the story feed within 24 hours.

Stories covering event

With the Instagram stories, you can create a time series post based on an event that is unfolding. Therefore, your followers can follow your update on specific events as it is unfolding.

So, if you are comfortable to post on the normal Instagram feed, you can also post the same update to your Instagram story.

More creative content

With Instagram stories also, you can put more creative content that would not usually make it to your Instagram news feed. This is because of the temporary nature of the Instagram story will allow you to post bonus images or videos to your followers.

Step 1

In your Instagram feed, tap on the post that you want to share to your story

Step 2

In that post, tap the “Paper Plane” icon

Tap the editing tool above if you want to edit the story further
